Alright, I've tried, I really have, but I can't find how to change this power button to just Shut Down. I think it actually might be bugged.

Its the power button on the start menu, its currently set to go to the low power state, but I just want to use it to shut down the computer. I've gone over to Control Panel / Power Options and changed the 'When I press power button:' choice to Shut Down, but no luck.

Is this bugged or am I doing something wrong?

The option you are trying to change is for the physical power button on the computer I think.

I'm sure you could change the Start Menu button via some sort of hack, but seeing as Sleep is a prominent feature in Vista, and the way MS wants us to shut down our PC's, I' m not surprised there is no obvious way to change it.

you can definitely change it to do what you want. well at least i could when i had rc2 installed. i'm sure you can do it in the final version too.... :p

look under custom/advanced...something like that, the option should definitely be there. :)

Control Panel > Power Options. Click "Change plan settings" below your selected plan & then "Change advanced power settings". Expand "Power buttons and lid" & change "Start menu power button" option.

Hmm, I've been in that menu a few times and didn't notice an option for the menu button, will have to try it later :)
