got my OEM ultimate x64 today, and tried to install it.

After backing up, i booted from CD. After the loading screen it took me to regional settings options. Neither my mouse or keyboard would respond, this happend every time including with PS/2.

Decided to load xp back up, but again my mouse and keyboard didnt work at logon screen for xp.

Decided to reformat my pc with my xp disc, so i did a clean install of xp and tried again.

As soon as i restarted my pc, my keyboard can no longer go into the bios, the only thing it alows me to go into is the bios flash utility. Also instead of loading windows it just has a cursor prompt in the top left corner of a black screen. Added the fact i cant choose to boot from CD leaves me stuck. Ive tried resetting the CMOS jumper but still nothing. any ideas?

thanks.

Might have to use PS2 mouse and PS2 keyboard adapters for your USB, until USB drivers are loaded during installation of your new operating system..... ;)

only thing is, i just put on fresh XP install so the USB drivers should still be there...

You are going to need a PS2 Keyboard to get either to install, I have same problems with a wireless keyboard, but I have a PS2 as a back lying about for install's

ill take a ps2 keyboard and mouse from work tommorow and see what happens.

update - after replasing cmos battery it informs me that the bios is loaded defaults. When i choose F1 it loads normally till i get the safe mode, start windows normally and last known good congif menu, however it crashes instantly on that screen. Choosing to go into the bios takes me to the black screen with the prompt at top corner
