Hey all,

running vista ultimate 64-bit ..noticed I have about 45-50 processes running as soon as i start up. Under XP I knew which ones were ok to kill and which ones i had to leave. Just not sure in vista, as i dont want to break anything etc.

HERE is a link to my task list...any ideas which i could get rid of?

cheers

Yep, same thing I asked when I went to Vista 64. Vista handles memory differently than XP, that amount of processes is actually ok and disabling them won't give you any performance increase.

I'm guessing you have 2GB-4GB of RAM, think of it this way; Would you rather Vista actually used your memory or just let it sit there? Basically right now Vista is learning which applications you use the most and caching them in the memory so they load quicker. It's called SuperFetch and it's probably one of the key features of Vista.
