im thinking of getting vista purely for dx10 gamming.
im thinking of having dual boot xp and vista
questions

1. if i have a 250 gig hd, what would be the reccomended size to have vista installed on a partition ? remeber this is justy going to be used for gamming and nothing else. and no online as my bt voyager 105 doesnt have vista driver !! huh

2. do i do as i have done in previous times. install xp with a partition and save x ammount of space for vista. insatall vista via xp, follow instructions and from cold boot i ill have the option of boot via xp or vista.

3. whats the real diff between 32bit and 64bit vista

4. will my system spec be ok for vista ? see my sig for spec

5. whats the diff between oem vista and retail

many thanks guys !

:D

vista uses about 15gb, xp uses about 2gb

spec will be fine, more ram wouldn't go amiss..

get a router to solve net issue, far safer and far less hassle

won't cause issues, there'd just be a small speed boost boost if you had 4gb

if you're running 4gb tho, you want to be using 64bit vista

oem means it's tied to that motherboard, retail means you can format, then install on a new motherboard (hence the price)

This may help answer some your questions

The number of computers on which you can install Windows Vista depends on the software license. For example:

If you acquire Windows Vista via retail purchase (boxed product), it may only be installed on one computer at a time. You may choose to uninstall Windows Vista from the initial computer and install it on another computer. You will then be required to re-activate that copy of Windows on the new computer.

If you acquire Windows Vista pre-installed on a computer, it may only be used on that computer.

If you acquire Windows Vista via a volume license, visit the Windows Vista Volume Activation page.

there are some good answers to many FAQs you may have. :)

You wont be able to do that with Vista x64 - you'll need to boot from the DVD.

Install XP first, then reboot and install Vista x64 from the disk. Will work fine (I've done it several times). You must do it in that order, otherwise the XP bootloader will overwrite the Vista one, and its a bugger to fix.

ok vista due tomorrow
as you can see in my theads im hopefully going to dual boot vista and xp
xp first them vista
when i install vista am i going to have to install motherboard drivers, and chipset drivers etc etc
