I have vista ultimate 32-bit, and i have 4Gb of ram installed, however vista only seems to detect 3.25Gb of RAM even though the bios detecs 4Gb. Anyone know why?

I have a Asus P5e Mobo with Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB) ram.

dosent vista 64 bit have crappy compatibility with 32 bit applications?

False impression I think. I've used 64bit and there wasn't any compatibility issue that I noticed, it stores all 32bit programs in a separate "Program Files x86" folder.

As have been asked numerous times before you will need 64bit vista to fully utilise all 4gb.

there isnt many programs that wont work on 64-bit now, i havent found one yet, only thing is you will need to find the coretemp with vista 64 patch if you plan on monitoring temps
