That's the idea. RC = Release Candidate. It's sort of 'how about this?'... then get the bug reports, fix it, try again. Repeat until good enough.doran1801 said:daft question but does rc1 mean that it is the 1st bunch of releases that might actually look like the final?

Beta 2 was absolutely dreadful on a large amount of PCs - you might've been lucky though, as I've seen a few pcs it worked well with. The builds that have followed have been a vast improvement in all areas. RC1 is looking promising.doran1801 said:i have beta 2 installed on my beta as a dual boot and up to now it seems ok apart from a few erros installing various programs

Only if you reported bugs that were subsequently fixed and weren't already known to the developers.Nutbusta said:IIRC those (including myself) registered for the beta program are allowed to use the final release version for a year on on upto 10 PC's
Gives me time to save for multiple copies

I believe you're right - if you signed up to download the CPP of Beta 2, you'll be able to download RC1. If you didn't, then I think you're out of luck.Nutbusta said:I think it is only for those participating in the beta program which is now closed.
I hope though that I'm wrong

And MS appeared to have changed their mind on this one now. They will be reopening registrations for those that missed out the first time round when RC1 is released.csmager said:I believe you're right - if you signed up to download the CPP of Beta 2, you'll be able to download RC1.
