Hey guys,

I’ve got Vista Ult installed on my Vostro laptop with XP Pro installed along side it in dual boot. Had no problems until a week or so ago when I think some new Vista updates were installed…

Now, only every now and then, upon trying to boot Vista I get the start of the load process and then I see a very brief flash of a BSOD before the machine re-starts. If I try to start Vista again it comes up the list of safe boot options – none of which seem to work?

The only thing I’ve found that does work is switching off and leaving it ten minutes, then its fine :(

Loading XP is fine during this issue.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

With many people who use Vista, they will all say that Vista is perfect and that its the most reliable O/S on the planet...

Of course when a problem, does come up, and someone posts about it, they ignore it and hope it goes away.

So, there is absolutely nothing with your PC and clearly it is you who is at fault.

Apparently?

I had exactly the same problem, although i am not using dual boot (just have Vista Ultimate 32-bit) I managed to get into windows after shutting down then turning it on again and found the update that was causing the problem was KB943899. So i just uninstalled the update and its run fine since.

Great: I'm using Ultimate too ;)

I thought it may have been an update, because it was fine before...

I'll give that a go tomorrow then. Thanks mate.

I uninstalled the patch ages ago and it worked a treat mate ;)

Then today I had exactly the same problem... Turns out my mate re-installed it went I lent him my laptop at the weekend :p

What is it with KB943899, I haven't noticed any problems with it on my Vista desktop?
