Hi all.

I have a question that I hope can be answered here. I currently have running on my system vista64 and I have found that I have a few problems occurring and what I want to know is can I wipe vista from my system and completly start again?? I have the original vista disk and product key but I dont want to wipe the os and reinstall it to find out that I cant activate it again, any help out there please?

yes you can as long as you have disc and key ive done it before no probs if you do it to often you have to use phone activation which is free and easy

Cheers for that Kenny. Basically if I wipe my HDD (format) and close down the pc and boot the vista disk from bios to install the os my system will be completly clean, im right in thinking this arnt I?? Also just want to check that my product key will still work with this install, im not to sure on that and dont want to have to fork out another ton on a new os.

your product key will work as long as its genuine as ive said ive reinstalled vista for mates and my 3 kids with no problems

Cheers guys for all the replies. This is my task for tommorow then, gonna wipe everything and start from fresh. My pc has just become so buggy of late its driving me nuts. Im gonna do a clean install to eliminate that issue and then if it keeps failing I can start looking at hardware. Just one last post on the subject though is that my vista64 is OEM deos this make any difference??

I just did an OEM Vista re-install over the weekend, clicked Activate Now on Sunday morning (on the System panel in Control Panels and off it went). No probs.

The amount of updates and restarts was a bit of a 'mare, but it had to be done.

Beware you will clear everything from your drive! Take a backup of everything you need!

Just turn the computer on with the Vista DVD in the drive, it will guide you through everything, including formatting the disk (which you do from the installer off the DVD, rather than prior)
