dont know how recent this is but :

GPU DirectX 9 capable GPU with Hardware Pixel Shader v2.0 and WDDM Driver support

so as said above, any DX9 card will do (how well it would cope is a different matter). the WDDM drivers are down to the manufacturers to release

It's Vista's default themepack and will look a bit macish. ie useless warping of windows and transparency effects

Hehe, me too. It will be one of those "ooh thats pretty" quickly followed by "time to disable it".... :)

LOL now THAT was funny! :D

nice reasding this, my X800 XTPE should work ok, but it could do with a DX 10 card to get the most out of it?

How well cards would cope I would be interested in. My current one is only 64MB so only supports XP-like graphics when I installed Vista's beta. I'm looking to build my own system around January when Vista is said to be shipped, the only reason I'm not building sooner is the current DDR2 prices  and I can wait. I'm not really a gamer, apart from the odd god games so a power card isnt necessary but does anyone recommend a few that are middle of the range sorta speak?

It's a Radeon IGP 345M, it will support Vista but not really Aero as the transparent effect doesnt work, the pixel shader support isnt there. I don't really have a specific budget for the card but would hope to build a core 2 duo system for 6-700.

tbh, its more bloat that you're gonna wanna disable for now as it will REALY stifle your folding power.

Id just get something like a 7600 GT then, its about the same as a 6800 Ultra, or faster, and will handle Vista easily as well as the odd game, and they pretty cheap as well. :)

Not surprising cos 9800 Pro is still pretty powerful tbh, Vista is gonna be in machines like those cheapy Dell/manufactured ones which have X300s and the like :)
