vista readyboost

does ready boost really work well as some people are stating when installed on a machine running 512mb ram?

well after using a uncertified and a certified key i purchased of ocuk , i woudl say there is no difernce in that department, does it make a realy difference, i woudl have to say yes and know, it is realy meant for slower perfoming computers, i woudl say in my part, it has made a differnce in webbrowsing, ie if you go to a website it stores the pages you visit to the cache, (i presume) the second time you go back it loads up instantley, apart form that im not cinvinced, the activity lite on the key is flashing away a fiar amount so who realy knows, it will be better when micorosoft finishes off its new fiel system, vista was supposed to have on release, wich they had to take off, as they couldnt iron out the vairous probs, but anyhow i think its due to be introduced via serviepack soemtime.

I bought a PEAK 200x readyboost thingy, doesn't seem to make much difference to me but it was only like £20 ;)

I got a rally 2 2gb pen but didn't think it made much difference tbh .....

Sticks good though...lol

.p.s. DataVampire your sig's a wee bit too large mate....4 lines is the max ;) just thought I'd let you know......

It's certainly makes app loads/closes quicker when the main hard disk is busy (I guess that's when the random access perf of a flash card is better than a hard disk).

For general, one-app-at-a-time work, it makes no difference.

That's on a:
P4 2.4B
512MB Rambus ram
IDE hard disks etc

4 lines or you'll incur admin wrath.

On topic:

So does having the ready boost service on warrant the benefits? I have it turned off atm.

if you got it yes it does help i woudl say in webbrowsing, for example for sites you visit ll the time..

Mine is on 1 too try cutting out the spaces etc that should help?

Or copy paste mine into yours and see how it looks then work back from there..?

Well I've got a spair SD card that readyboost seems to want me to use as a readyboost device. I don't know if I can be bothered though to be fair. Will have to think on it.

with 2gb ram and then 4gb ram my rig seems slower with my memory key in. It is a pretty slow key though, and I suspect Vista uses fast system RAM to cache if it is available
