does anyone know of a good recovery program for windows vista?
I've been trying to totally delete vista off my hard drive but when i use any programs like partition magic in a bartpe enviroment, or any other disk tools it just says the disk is in use or random errors.
i'm figuring it has something to do with vistas tightened security but i just wondered if there is any program out there that works flawlessly for vista recovery/partition deletion.
thanks :)

hehe, as much as i love xp vista now threatens my whole work day with its "improved visual features", and how it keeps me "better connected" :D
i have got xp on a seperate pc but i just cannot format or partition the newly formatted vista disk with any conventional disk recovery tools.
if anyone hows of any software they use to accomplish it would be great.

You surely have the Windows Vista install disc right?

Insert it, restat the machine then press any key to boot from DVD. Then you will be able to creat, format or delete partions. Just choose the Format option.

I dont get how vista can prevent you from whipping it off from a non-vista environment.

Have you checked your hard drive manufacturers website for a bootable diagnostic tool of some kind. I know WDs has a feature to write all zeros to the drive.
