Hi this has probably been asked before but I can't find any info.

Have got an Oem copy of Vista Home Premium which I ran on my oem pc for a bit. Then I went back to Windows XP pro which I preferred.

Problem is, I'm getting a new motherboard next week (and new graphics card but all other bits are the same) and I'd like to know if I reinstall vista will there be problems with reactivation?

Yes thier will be, you WONT be able to activate it threw the online service, you will have to ring them up.

Now i am not sure if they will recativate your copy if you tell them what you have just told us.

Microsoft will probably let you if you tell them it's only installed on one PC. However, it's a bit of a grey area of what a new PC constitutes as. Many would argue that a new motherboard and a new graphics card basically equals a new PC, and therefore you should get a new OEM license.

ah no, was hoping that wouldn't be the case :(

I'll just explain what the situation is, and why I'm upgrading due to the shoddy parts that I had before.

If I phone them and they say I need a new oem license any ideas how much it's be?

They should Activate it. I know some people on here say they won't but i know a few on here, including myself who have had a Vista OEM re-activated by Microsoft.
