Vista reinstall

I bought an Acer laptop with Vista home premium 32bit pre installed on it last year, and i foolishly installed a copy of XP on it. Ill be ordering a new rig with a copy of home premium 64bit with my new rig, would i be able to install the vista 64bit onto my laptop using the serial code that came with my laptop?

Note the laptop did not come with a vista install disc.

As long as you haven't replaced the motherboard, it will work.

I'm sure from other discussions that it depends on if 64-bit version was OEM pre-install or retail? The consistent theme I keep reading is OEM pre-install is tied to motherboard, whereas retail is transferable?
Think it might be in the licensing sticky post.

An OEM license covers both 32 and 64bit installs, one at a time of course. Use the media that you get with your new rig.
