Vista: Remove Desktop Icon Names

Anyone know if it's possible to get rid of the "Computer", Control Panel", "Network" etc. text on the desktop icons, Can't rename the shortcuts to nothing (can't even rename some of them).

Basically, I know what the Recycle Bin is from what it looks like, I don't need the label, just wondering if it's possible to get rid of it. But I wouldn't want to get rid of all the names in windows explorer so I'm doubting it's possible but thought I'd post just incase anyone knew.

Why don't you remove them off the desktop to the start menu?

That's not what he's asking. I just tired it now and renamed it and put a space in there which seemed to work fine.

works fine for Computer and Recycle bin, but wont work for Games, Tom (user folder), Network and Control Panel. It's not super important, it would just be nice - Like my Firefox Shortcut toolbar just has the icons.
