Vista retail question

Im probably going to get the retail version then send off for the 64bit disc, but was wondering if I can do this?

Buy the retail version and install 32bit.
When 64 disc arrives, and the general support is better, can I uninstall the 32, then install the 64 on the same pc, using the same serial number etc?

Or do I get "one go" at which version I want and thats what Im stuck with?
