I had AVG on Windows XP and it never found anything - I use firefox and don't spend a lot of time on dodgy sites or downloading bad things

When I was running AVG on XP, it never once found a virus.
I'm on a user account anyway, so what's the worst that can happen?

bfar said:I'm not saying you shouln't get Virus protection, but I don't use them myself. Half of it is trumpt up marketing to scare you into buying software, as much as a genuine threat. I've had about 2 virus's in 15 years - they did nothing harmful and they were easy to kill.
Make sure you get some anti spyware protection tho. And always carry a condom.
