Vista Service Pack 2 Won't Install

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Service Pack 1 but when I try to install Service Pack 2 I get the error missing sqmapi.dll file. I've downloaded the .dll file but it's already in my System32 folder.

The reason I need Service Pack 2 is because I want to install DirextX 11 and without it I can't. I hope someone can help me.

Thanks but I tried both of those and they didn't work. I think I'll upgrade to Windows 7.

That's a better idea or a fresh install of Vista with SP2 integrated.

I'd stick with Vista and hold out for W8, as most be getting nearer to release now.

SFC /scannow usually works. Did you try in safe mode?
