Keep in mind it won't and much by way of visible features although there are a fair amount of under the covers changes, like allowing anti virus vendors to hook in to APIs more deeply, allowing you to change the built in search to another providers engine such as Google if you want to, bringing the kernal back into sync with Server 2008.
If you apply the recent perfromance and reliability updates and the 2GB fix for some gaming problems along with all the updates on MS Update you're a long way towards SP1 anyway.
Unless you really want to "test" stuff I'd avoid the beta SP1 builds for the time being, at best you're likely to have odd problems and at worst you could have an unstable system. Not because SP1 is a bad thing, more because it's just at very early builds currently, if it worked perfectly it'd be released
