I have a small network on one router consisting of 2 Vista machine and one XP. if I navigate to one of the Vista machines (Vista1) from Vista2 using the address bar (//192.168.0.2) I have to type in a username and password.

Fair enough, but I can't work out what I should be typing in what form. e.g. Is the username the account on the target machine (Vista1) and it's password? If I type that, I told it's incorrect and the username box gets re-written as
user: Vista1/username1
pass: password1

All those bits are put in correctly as far as I know. From what I've been reading I might need to be accessing this from an identical account on the Vista2 machine?

They're all on the same workgroup, can someone confirm what the login is asking for as this is doing my head in!

Cheers.

For that to work you actually need a password set. Blank ones will not work. Make sure there's one set. Also, it is the account on the target machine that it is asking for. If you have an identical account on both machines, with the same password, the login box should not appear.
