Basically im thinking of getting with the times and thinking of getting vista premium. Heres some questions:
1.Is it worth getting for a me who only uses my pc for gaming and browsing online.
2. Should i get retail
3. 32mb or 64mb and how do i get hold of a retail 64mb version

Think you mean bit.

If gaming, prepare for trouble ahead. Not many people have it running properly including myself. Not used my Vista install now for almost a month

Think the other advantage of Retail, apart from getting both 32 & 64-bit versions, is that you can move the install into a new build/PC/etc ;)

1) For gaming Vista is not as good as XP at the moment, but things are getting better every month with new driver releases. For web browsing and general tasks I find Vista much nicer to use.

2) If you upgrade your entire system a lot. The only difference between OEM and retail is the license. Retail can be transfered to another computer (but only on one PC at a time) or unlimited upgrades of all hardware. With OEM you can upgrade all hardware as much as you want, apart from the motherboard. After you upgrade your motherboard you legally need to purchase a new license.

3) It depends. If you have a 64Bit CPU (Core2Duo, A64) then yes but if you don't have a 64Bit CPU you can't.

As said above, prepare for some problems on the gaming side of things.

Also, before you go for it have a browse around and make sure you can find Vista versions/vista compatible versions of all your drivers.

The the web browsing side of things Vista will be perfect.

You also might want to do some searches on Google to see if the games that you want to play on Vista actually work.

Im also tempted to delve in.

Been using RC2 for ages now and getting a nice 14days left message.

The only gaming i do is the occasional CS:S and possibly halo 2 in future (Which is Vista only anyway).

Just been paid so now or never; the only driver issues i have is a slight sound issue with my Mystique card.

Ooooooooh Decisions!

Vista OEM 64Bit if i did.

Same as me McDaniel, except for the halo 2 part :P

All I play is CS, which admittedly isnt hard to run. Tried CS:S at 1920*1200 and it runs about 85% of XP speeds at a guess. Running a 7900GTX/2GB/E6600. Nvidia drivers are coming along leaps and bounds WHEN they release new ones ;) Slowly but surely though, they'll be as good as, if not better than, XP's.

If you got similar specs, go get it :) It's a nice OS.
