Sleep is the first option in the shut down list with Vista Home Premium on my Desktop. However, given the problems I have experienced trying to get the PC to successfully wake up again when using sleep option I have had to use the Hibernate feature instead (almost as quick at booting as sleep). Given this situation is there a way of making Hibernate the first option in the shutdown list in place of Sleep?

You can change the default action of the sleep/hibernate/shutdown button left of the padlock icon on the menu.

But with Hibernate instead?

Thanks for the response, however, my peepers aren't quite good enough to see what is going on on the second screen plus I use Windows Classic menus - haven't moved on since Windows 95 and although I've tried the new interface I really really really don't like it and don't find it very user friendly at all. Can this exercise be done for Classic?

Ah! many thanks, a pictures worth a thousand words or so the saying goes. I was changing the power button action option to Hibernate and not the start menu power button option  That has definitely cured it.
