Vista Sleep Issue

Hey all,

When I was using Vista RC2 on my old system (DFI NF4 SLI-D motherboard based) I was able to send the PC to sleep and it would shut down completely but when it started up the boot process was a matter of seconds, as if it was in hibernation mode but with a quicker restart.

Now since I have installed Home Premium OEM on my current system (spec in sig) the sleep option seems to work for a second but then it kicks straight back into life again.

Any ideas? Not a big issue of course but something handy to have.

Thanks

Russ

update any motherboard drivers you can. check your bios settings too. Does it do the same with all usb devices unplugged?

Mine does it too, even with power events disabled in bios it seems Vista keeps Wake On Lan active in sleep mode no matter what. Annoying. Oh, and Hibernation dissapeared from power options for my motherboard between beta and final...

my old a64 rig used to do this, i used to have to turn off the power switch on the psu
then turnn it back on when i wanted to use it, it would resume from its hibernation no problem.

not had enough time to play it since i've upgraded to c2d to see if it does the same.

Check your BIOS for wake on USB and disable, make sure you have s3 enabled in BIOS and ensure your NICs are not waking the system in Vista and BIOS. I did the USB thing, which resolved my issue, now if only I could get defender to update.

Im certain it will be the nvidia grx drivers, mine was causing all sorts of issues with sleep. One min it would work next it wouldnt, black screen on wake ups, crashing when playing vids after sleep.
The new 101.41 drivers have fixed all that and I sleep at night!!

Right, had to hit Ctrl+F1 in the BIOS but found and turned off Wake on USB, also had to go into the advanced properties of my network adapter to disable Wake on LAN too. Now it sleeps like a baby but when it boots back up again the LAN doesn't work unless I go in and fiddle with the drivers which then kicks it into life?
