Vista Sli Problem

Hey people , i got a little problem, when i put in 1 8800gts card vista runs fine but when i put in both of my 8800gts's vista will only load up to the bar then my pc doesnt do anything? Can anyone help me with this as i really want to get it running ok.Cheers in advance

What PSU are you using?

Have you tried the new card on its own to reule out a dead card?

im using a q-tec 575watt psu, the cards are fine cause they work perfectly on xp pro. but vista will startup with 1 card in just not both

P.S i know the psu is seriously underpowered but if it was affecting the cards then surely windows xp wouldnt boot up either?

The make says it all. Spend a bit of money on a decent PSU; Silverstone, Be Quiet etc.

ok well it'll have to wait because i have recently been made redundant and cant afford to spend much money on it. but i would have thought if it was the psu it wouldnt boot up at all? it gets to the green scrolling bar and just goes blank

Yeah 575w is the borderline with a quality supply but with a Q-Tec you're seriously risking it. I'd hazard that the issue might be a sign of it keeling over.

They are notoriously bad units and if they die have a habit of destroying many of the components they are powering.

TBH i'd make do with a single GTS and possibly sell the other to fund a better PSU.

well thats not the first time i've had something bad happen from the same shop. so if i remove a card do you reckon there will be any loss in power?
