i have installed vista on a friends laptop. which is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS215M the install has gone ok in that it all works.
we have installed the drivers for sound and they seem to be working (the icon in the start bar says they are) but we have no sound.
all the sound levels are on max
thanks

To check your sound device is installed and working properly...

1) Go to Control Panel and type "sound" in the search box (top right).
2) Under Sound, choose "Change sound card settings".
3) On the "Playback" tab, you should see your sound device listed. If it's okay, then there will be a green tick next to the speaker icon; also under the name of the device it should say "Working".
If instead it says "Disabled", select the device and click "Properties". Then from the "General" tab, at the bottom where it says "Device usage", select the drop down and choose "Use this device (enable). That should hopefully get it working.
