Hi,
When playing a song in either winamp or wmp, which is stored on the local hard drive, and at the same time if i copy a file over my LAN to another PC, the song stutters very badly, this only happens if i upload a file over the lan, if i download the same file the song keeps playing fine.
Could this be down to audio drivers? Or is it likly to be a general speed issue?
Im using an AMD X2 4400+, 2gb ram so i would have expected it to be able to handle playing a song and copying a file to a network share.
My Sound is onboard, and i have realtek vista drivers, and a nvidia midi bridge thing off windows update.
Also due to HDD activity, i turned indexing off but i still get the same problem even when the hdd is practically idle.
But one thing that makes me think it isnt the sound drivers, is if i take a notepad window and drag it around the screen during a file upload, it lags pretty badly, i.e there is a general performance drop when im uploading a file.
(Never had this issue on XP)
Any ideas?
Jack
