Vista SP1 on Technet and MSDN

Yes, it's official, direct from MS, 100% final

It's a large file because it's multi language. The plain English install won't be as big but beggers can't be choosers

Oh and don't install this is you are a Network Admin as it removes Group Policy Managment and M$ are yet to release an updated SP1 version.

A quote from here http://technet2.microsoft.com/Windo...f706-401e-abb5-eec42ea0a03e1033.mspx?mfr=true .

"Feature or API Changes
• GPMC (Group Policy Management Console) will be uninstalled with Service Pack 1 and GPEdit will default to Local Group Policy editing. Following these changes, SP1 users can download an updated version of GPMC which will include new Group Policy capabilities including adding comments to GPOs or individual settings and searching for specific Group Policy settings. im getting the same error

do you need to be a paid up member of technet to get this, as i only receive the newsletter ?

Well from what people were saying SP1 already is on torrent. I just didn't fancy getting it from an untrustworthy source.

Don't worry, it will be up for general release soon enough anyhow.

Just to add to discussion we just finished installing it on a x86 Vista PC and the file copy performance is a world apart from the gold release of Vista. MUCH faster!
