Just logged into the OEM system builder website and they have .img available for the updated SP1 oem preinstallation kit & for SP1 files. I'm sure these will be able to be slipstreamed will find out once they download.

Surely not, MS wouldn't expect an OEM system builder to install SP1 as an update on a factory install?

I'm expecting full SP1 install images or at least a slipstreamable package.

Unfortunatley the download is horribly slow so probably wont know today

You use the image builder kit to create an image of it installed and it installs it like as if you installed it direct fresh install.

OPK includes the Windows Preinstallation Environment 2.0

"Hot" PnP Support for WindowsPE
32-MB RAM Drive (writable scratch space)
New/additional optional components
New Launch Tool Called Wpeinit
New Build Tool Called PEImg
New Image Maintenance Tool -- Package Manager
New features in the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK) include:
Creation of the Windows System Image Manager Tool to author answer files
Inclusion of full end-to-end suite of preinstallation tools, including image creation and maintenance
Sysprep is now included in the operating system
Full support for the Windows Deployment Services, the successor to Windows Remote Installation Services (RIS)

Not all system builders use the image method some will use the config set method.

Eitha the image method or maybe ask Microsoft for a pre-installed SP1? I have looked into it and not found any way into intergrating it at all.

Yeah OEM media in the channel will eventially have SP1 integrated, just wondered as this download is from Microsoft and has a different filename and will have x32 & x64 in the same image, its 1.2GB so I'm guessing its the standalone x32 x64 installers. Will be a bit annoyed if it doesn't slipstream.

You won't be the only one who will be annoyed. Could be a nightmare for system builders.

I posted in this thread about waiting for the SP from MS direct. You never know what anybody has done with it on torrents. ( I know it can be downloaded via windows update) (but I don't want that).

this must be the 10th time i've posted this in the last week.... the files are digitally signed from microsoft. they cannot be tampered with.

The file itself might not have but you could repack it and make it look like an install to run other stuff.

If you have an OEM server setup you use your own company's Digital signature. As for the any wim file exponent it will carry the digital signatures of the WHQL labs at MS. Plus any extra's you care to add would have to carry your own OEM package signature.
Any hardware manager of any server based package will tell you that. Since server 2003. There has often been times when a Programmer associate of mine has had to slipstream bot the package of drivers and their XML database into server 2003.
On MSDN I need to integrate certain permissions and protocols into the latest server 2008. which is going through tests on MSDN at present. The most idealic thing about a server based system is that you only have to supply storage space, a CPU and the Software base with the SQL and Company digital space. A signatory protocol that is unique to your network. This serves as a base for VLK and MAK data, which has to be in contact with the server at least twice a year.
Any digital signatures can be aproved and assigned to this database and any futher updates to these signatories and file update can be encorporated into your own windows update catalogue that is available to your client database. You see this in action via DELL and HP as the only other 2 major windows update servers for their clients because their lecenses bind you to their Customer support rather than MS.
There will be no need to Slipstream the image because the MSDN will be releasing the full SP1 and Vista ISO files at the end of the month anyway.
