Vista SP1

I still cannot get Vista SP1 via Windows Update. Is this due to an incompatibility or something? Would it be worth downloading it manually?

I would grab it manually as Admin Package and if it still wont install do in Safe Mode.

Make sure you get the right one - x86 or x64. I had a nightmare struggling to get SP1 to install on my Vista HP x64, until I realised I was trying the x86 one.

Will it tell my if there are any potential incompatibilities? I think I read somewhere that people had problems with SigmaTel Soundcards and SP1?

You didn't strip out BITS or anything with nlite did you?

make an image of your install first, or google the fix for the 'looping restart' before you apply it, incase you're machine does that with it.
