Vista SP2 pre-beta available

Windows Vista SP2 adds Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches.
WindowsVista SP2 contains the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology.
Abilityto record data on to Blu-Ray media natively in Windows Vista.
Adds Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration.
WindowsVista SP2 enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones.

I won't be installing this beta btw.

if thats it then its sooo not worth the trouble.

i'm with "acccc" opinion, nothing on there that makes me scream out to want to try is immediatly

so i won't be trying the pre-beta

nice to know somethings in the development though to try and make vista that we bitty better - so thanks for the heads up

Can anyone whos installed it verify the comment on the OP link -

"...it's freakin' awesome. Login and startup are much faster, and programs are launching quite a bit quicker as well. I've also noticed that my RAM usage has dropped..."

LOL
I just love these threads.
There is a reason why beta's and pre-beta's are not released into the wild but some people just have to try these things on production machines.
It'll be followed up usually by complaints when it all goes very wrong.

I guess those people outside of the official beta testing want to try these things - you really aren't missing much and we're only testing these things so that everyone has a better experience when the thing goes gold.
We can report the bugs back to get them fixed - others can't.

I'll stick to those releases on the MS servers I think - hella lot safer.
And no, I'm not yet running SP2 on any Vista machine I have access to.
What I can download is a lot safer than what you're seeing from these various sites, but this is pre-beta and really not worth bothering with.

The problem comes when one moron decides to install on a live machine, which of course goes TU, and then moans about it.

which will most certainly happen in this thread, then there'll be a ton of "damn ms, trying to mess up my machine not letting me remove SP2" posts

happened with XP SP3 and Vista SP1, people installing it on their main machine without taking a backup or considering they may have to format to remove it..

Put the reg mod inplace a few days ago, last night the prerequisite showed up and half an hour later along came SP2 :)

Newer build too on Vista and Server

just installing it now
i ran the bat file from the link below to get SP2 to show up on windows update
http://www.megashare.com/540918
1. Download the (.bat) file

2. Now, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.

3. Next, open Windows Update and check for updates. Windows will show “Vista SP2 Build 16497″ in available updates.

had to run it twice, but its now installed ok
i have found a problem already with it, my bluetooth no longer works

edit
bluetooth now works, i had to do a internet search for a more up to date driver from HP

Keep in mind that like most Service Packs a big chunk of the changes will be a roll up of hotfixes already released via Windows update and so on most up to date machines anyway.
