Is it me or is this very disk hungry? I wondered why my small installation was using 100gb of disk space when i have nothing really installed apart from a few games and the normal stuff. It transpires I turned off system restore for the volume and 70gb comes back to me, and the disk is only 30gb used. Now 70gb for system restores and shadow copies is a bit extreme. Is this because it is a 500gb disk so it has the space to do it, or will it always be like this. Its annoying because I use Acronis backup and that is huge cos of all these hidden system restore files. hey ho!

Do you dual boot? I discovered that if you dual boot, it also backs up your XP drive as well, and there is no way to disable it doing this. (When your doing a full system backup).

Nope Fresh install of Vista.
It would be better if you could choose which drive to hold the system restore files. I wonder if the built in backup to onecare/vista is clever enough to ignore the system restore files?
I might play around for a bit. It might be a case of turn off system restore for good and use Acronis, as I do like that, but then system restore is quick and handy if you have a dodgy driver install or summit similar.
