As mentioned in another thread, I had some trouble with the latest ATI drivers, so I thought I'd put System Restore to the test in a non-critical situation. I tried 3 different restore points, but each time, Vista eventually rebooted to say that it couldn't restore to those points, without telling me why.

I used Norton (sorry to swear) GoBack in XP and it worked brilliantly. Has anyone used System Restore successfully in Vista or should I reclaim my disk space from System Restore and wait for Goback to be Vista-compatible?

I managed a successful system restore last week I think it was, after an installation caused a bit of instability.

Just wondering, if I was to choose "installed vista codec package" from the system restore list would it restore the system to just after the codecs were installed or just before it?

My restore points say "install" rather than "installed", so I presume they restore to just before (or at least they should do if it worked on my PC!).

Mine say install as well you pedantic little git. :D

Whilst I am quite happy to admit to being anally pedantic, in this instance it's valid. If your system said "installed", then it would imply that the system restore point was post-install.
