OK potentially stupid question.

I'm trying to install XP onto a laptop that's currently running Vista. I'm using a USB flash boot device to do it with and don't usually have any issues. However with this one, it just doesn't boot. Just loads up Vista. I've made sure the boot order is correct of course and that the stick works (i used it to install XP last night for a different laptop). Any ideas?

I have kinda figured the issue out (i left it alone for a few days...) and the BIOS isn't recognizing the boot device by its name (XP_BOOT) it's just giving it a generic name (USB_1gb blablabla...). I've read forums online that this is often why it won't boot from the USB drive but i can't find how to solve it. I need to get it done today so any suggestions would be welcome :)

Besides updating the BIOS im not sure there is a lot you can do really. Use a CD? Probably not very helpful.
