vista toolbars

in XP you can create toolbars, fill them up with icons and dock them on to the side of your screen, (Keeping taskbar and desktop tidy) all I can get them to do in Vista is sit on the taskbar? Taskbar is not locked, does anyone know how to get the little buggers out on to the desktop and then dock em?

another example of dumbing down I suppose. Damn, I will miss my little toolbar it was so neat the way it would autohide on the edge of the screen. Now I will have to have it on the taskbar

create a folder, fill it full of shortcuts, right click on taskbar, pootle up to "toolbars" on the flop out menu click on "new toolbar" point it at your folder and the toolbar will appear on your taskbar. With a little mouse manipulation you can then drag it onto your desktop and "dock" it onto the side of your screen (any side you like) you can then set it to autohide and tell it how you want it to display your shortcut, (details, lg /sm icons) then to add more shortcuts you can just drag and drop on to the toolbar, and you can arrange the s/cs however you like them just by dragging them about on the toolbar.
For those of us who have a zillion programs we use regularly but can't stand a cluttered desktop and find the all programs menu a fag these toolbars are fantastic

rookies : can't help you there mate, I'm a bit fanatic about a tidy desktop but even I haven't gone as far as matching decor

you can have your docked toolbar in Vista, if you do what Rebelius said and creat a folder fil it with the shortcuts you want. Then I actually create a shortcut to that folder ( I don't keep actual stuff on the desktop, just s/c's)
then you can drag that shortcut to the side or top of your screen. Then just right click on it to set properties, auto hide etc.
