I got a 32bit vista express upgrade with my PC. I want 64bit. I tried microsofts thing to download 64 but it didnt work. Is it legal to download 64bit on a torrent and use my code for 32bit?

your best option is to ask a friend if they have vista 64bit dvd then just install that using your key from your 32bit vista.. it'll be still valid and licensed..

The chances of you being arrested are pretty small, but it is illegal. It's also illegal to borrow a copy from a friend and install that. The suggestion that "only the license matters" is a myth - the license gives you a legal right to use the media that you bought with it. It doesn't let you obtain a copy by any means of your choice.

That is not correct. The media you use is irrelevant it's the license that gives you the right to use the operating system. When no media is supplied, as with competitors PC's from a well known store, you get the option to create a restore disk. Surely that is not illegal?

in my opinion, if you've got the key, then who cares where the disc came from

in ms and the law's opinion, it does matter where you get the disc from!

Please explain how how it is against the law to use or not use a certain CD/DVD to reinstall a programme you have a valid license key for
