running vista x64 and hibernate and then hybrid sleep worked fine for ages. now all of a sudden it wont stay down. only a shutdown works.

i set it to hibernate, it goes off and then when i get up in the AM its back up and running again.

only changes would be windows updates and that's it. i hate shutting it down :(

I found Mouse was culprit, it can pick up vibration and wake up laser then PC will wake (mines was sitting in recharge cradle at time).

In Device Manager unchecked to let Mouse wake up PC, just use the KB instead.

This is obv if you don't have NET or Sharing etc that can all wake up the PC enabled.

what kind of sharing do you mean?

i do have shared drives on both PCs (2 next to each other - both with vista x64). only 1 wakes up randomly.

i;ve disabled that mouse option in devman. the wifi adaptor is disabled also, the option for the NIC to wake the pc was disabled anyway in dev man.

wont find out if it works though till the next time i try it :)

Close your background processes one at a time and put your computer to sleep. Maybe something that's running won't let it sleep properly. My Vista wouldn't sleep properly after I installed VMWare. If I kill the process before sleeping it's fine.
