Right, well the only advantage I see to Vista is the Macintosh search fearture it now has.

Is there some sorta progy available for XP at all? Eg, something that searches for files ASWELL as programs QUICKLY?

was wondering this the other day actually, meant to put a post up about it. Thats the one thing thats truly fantastic about vista.

just that one feature.

which, and I hate to say it, has been on the MAC for quite some time now. Even though I've always been pro IBM-compatible, lack of such a feature, well... it sucks pretty bad.

PC has had it for years (Google Desktop Search. Live Desktop Search, Copernic etc). It's only recently that Microsoft has decided to put it into the core of the OS. Also note that pretty much all the features added in OSX were pinched from Microsoft's original Longhorn powerpoint slides from their press conference back in 1999.

Was a bit of an own goal for them, bet they wont be doing that with the next version of windows.

Well I installed Google Desktop and it's works great, but it's only done 40% indexing even though I left it over night.. how long does it usually take?

since we're on the topic

is there any way of enabling (or installing?) classic search in vista? like the 2000 view you can get in xp (with tweaks)

i much prefer being able to tell the os exactly where to search by pasting in a path to the search specs..
