Recently bought a new rig consisting of -

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz

EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB)

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

As well as all the other standard components, DVDRW etc ...

Installed Vista Ultimate today and found a weird problem.

My pc now randomly freezes and then is fine after about 2-3 mins, when it freezes I can still use the mouse (which I thought was quite weird).

I say 'randomly' but it usually happens when I've just opened a program or I try to close a program.

All my drivers are updated for the new Vista OS, any advice or anyone having similar problems.

Your help is greatly appreciated guys

Also just had a game of 'Hold 'Em' Poker and all the words on the screen seem to be flashing instead of being solid blocks of text.

Would these problems have something to do with my graphics card?

Don't have any pc games to try out either :(

Just did that test in the Performance Information and Tools section and I had a base score of 5.2, which is a very good score in terms of running vista to its full potential.

Don't understand why my pc keeps freezing then running again, getting very annoying as well.

It sounds like a video or font problem have you tried a resolution center fault find? If not go to Nvidia's Website and download the latest updated drivers yourself MS has a problem installing Nvidia drivers for Vista it is better to install the "Forceware" as forcefully as possible. Failing that try and repost with all your system details.

i'm running a similar speck, no freezez here but my texas holdem game does the same, i think it's the nvidia drivers cos i'm rinning an 8800gtx and when you uninstall the drivers there s no flicker on the game

Currently downloading that forceware now, I've also re-installed vista and it hasn't forzen up on me yet :)
I'll re-post when I have installed all the drivers.
thanks by the way guys!

I've installed all the proper drivers now, but my pc still freezes every once in a while.
Anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to correct it?

I'm on the uninstall program menu and I can't find that WDDM driver, here's a screenshot of all the programs and drivers on my pc -
