Vista Ultimate 64

It's okay, once you turn the nanny stuff off as much as possible. But that's windows for you.

I like the interface, nice and smooth to use and takes advantage of a good PC. I found XP faster and more stable to use though but never liked the look of it, kept it in classic mode. Vista is a good choice.

I am making the step from xp too vista for my next build. Had a play around on it at mates and i think it really good. Going for home premium dont see that extra ££££ of Ultimate

Vista great, but i dont think x64 bit version is worth it really. If your a casual computer user or even someonelike myself who plays games, internet, music composing etc, i had some problem finding 64bit drivers for certain things. It was the final straw when my printer had no 64 bit drivers. Personally i dont think they should make 2 differnt bit versions of OS anymore, then programmers can focus on one set of drivers per OS.

A lot of people **** off VIsta but theres nothing wrong with it, and ive had it pretty much since it hit the shelves. Windows 7 doesnt look too differnt (at this stage) to vista. It depends on what the gripe was initially, security, drivers, UAC etc.

Windows 64 driver support is a lot better now and i would defiantly recommend going up that route is it allows you to access more Ram which defiantly gives your performance gains.
