Vista Ultimate 64bit & XP Pro Dual Boot.Help needed1!!!

I have Vista Ultimate 64bit installed on a 500gb drive & want to set up a dual boot with XP Pro so that i can use my Epson Perfection 1200Photo Scanner(no drivers for Vista at all available) I put in the XP Pro upgrade disk(i have my old full version of NT4) but it just boots into Vista Ultimate despite being set to boot from CD/DVD,can anyone help as i dont want to have to buy a new scanner.

If its a upgrade disc it might not be bootable, as you upgrade through windows.

Considering the hastle, just buy a new scanner.... I used to have the parrallel version of the 1200 and had to change when XP came out as Epson only supported the USB version on XP....

It is an upgrade disc,but when i tried to put my original NT4 on first then upgrade to XP Pro it looks as if its going into NT4 Setup but then just boots to Vista,New scanner not an option due to funding....
