Just installed this on my second HDD (running xp on the other) to try it out on my old computer before i put it on my new purchase (yet to be ordered).

It installed fine but when i get to the desktop the screen goes black and my monitor (24" dell 1920 x 1080) says it cant support the resolution probably becuase of it being an uncommon res.

Is there a way of loading up my xp and going into my second hdd and adjusting a config file so my computer boots up vista at my native resolution?

Hi m8, just go safe mode when it gives you the option to choose vista or xp. If you select Vista, something else should appear like advanced options that should then let you select safe mode, where it will boot up in a safe resolution,640x480 if I remember. You can then mess about with it whilst in vista to try and figure the problem out.

Not sure why your res isnt supported though, maybe its seeting a dodgy refresh rate or something, the resolution as far as I know is pretty standard.

Tried that already mate and no luck, as the installation isnt 100% complete yet, thus i cant get into safe mode.

The monitor comes up saying cannot support 1920x1080 @ 60hz

There must be a file i can change manually for this.

Could just be the generic graphics drivers that the OS installs.

Update your GFX drivers when you have completed the install and it should be fine.
