So I want a new box for my Vista Ultimate box, so far I have

Hiper HMC-1K53A Media Center Case - Black 200 Watt PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz / 2MB Cache
Abit IP-95 Socket 775 / 1066MHz FSB
Hiper PCI-E Riser Card allows standard PCI-E

but I need a 775 cooler < 40mm high, best I can find is a Coolermaster Hyper L3 which is 41mm!

Will the 200w PSU be OK ?

HEADRAT

The 200W PSU will probably be OK - for a cooler try google with "1u s775 cooler" which brings up a mighty lump of copper passive 1U server cooler rated for Prescotts at 3.2GHz so it should do OK I would imagine.

I wouldn't bother with the IP-95, couldn't see any vcore options and bios "appears" to max out at 355, with most reports saying 333 is about the usual max to expect, I dunno how on earth some people are getting 400-480 fsb at the moment [unless its with clockgen or its a restriction when using the onboard video, seen a statement that it limits to 800 instead of the 1066 when using onboard], so I have decided to buy an MSI p965 matx, which at least according to review sites gets a 6600 up to 375 fsb, so maybe I'll get a better overclock with my new e4300

but if you really want one I'll sell you my 1 day old one :)

Hmmmm...

Maybe we should contact OcUK and have those reviews taken down? They do seem to be the source of most of the excitement.

Is there a PCI or PCIe lock?

I have already posted that question along with my initial very brief review, so hopefully the people concerned can clarify and detail how they got there, I saw only the following options regarding overclocking in the bios

fsb-200-350
mem voltage - +0.5v/0.1v/0.15v IIRC
ddr speed and latency [think it auto detects ddr2 to pc2-4200]

didn't see a pci lock/mch volt option or anything else useful, even looked for a newer bios, board seems to be a clone of another [whos names escapes me atm] but users of that board report same performance if a little less stable

so there is no way to my knowledge they could get 480 without a vcore adjustment unless they vmod, hopefully I am proved wrong :)

I would send it back. If the OcUK website has a review saying it can do 490FSB and it can't possibly, then I would say OcUK should take the board back as a goodwill gesture if nothing else.

Board is excellent, came with the bare basics. Didn't expect much for 40 squids. Had to reset the CMOS a few times for system to start running and once it did, blew my socks off.

Tested a few E6300's in here and max stable so far is 3.4GhZ approx 7x490.

Real good buy for cheap thrills. Have 3 of these 2 as experimental boards and one as just a pure fileserver.

very good board, would be nice to have a heatsink on the SB but oh well, Steven and Daniel how do you get to the overclocking part? is it in the bios bit when you first turn on the pc?

wewt! i have *** sheep lol. this board is really good at overclocking as it got my core2duo 6300 up to 3.32ghz from 1.86ghz with air cooling! buy this before they slap the price up! only thing i didn't like is that it doesn't have Sata2 and it is tiny, half the size of my old DFI board.

Best overclocking board ever, got my 1.8ghz core2duo upto 2.8ghz! WOOT extra 1 ghz free!!! buy this monster!

I've just checked and I can't see any disclaimers so I guess OcUK are using these reviews as advertising testimonials and as such they should take responsibility for them just as if they had written them themselves. I'd definitely send it back! And ask for a refund on the carriage too.

unfortunately your assuming I got it from OCUK, it made more sense to buy the sugo/cpu/mobo/dvdrw bundle from a supplier stocking the e4300, its not the end of the world £30 odd quid, and it isn't exactly useless, but yes it is frustrating that it was bought on the basis of said reviews which may or may not prove to be inaccurate.

I have a replacement MSI 965 board on its way to me, so I should be in better shape over the weekend, and no doubt I will be selling this one on, or keeping it for a future project, it still represents a cheap system solution whichever way you cut it IMO
