Vista Ultimate users?

I'm thinking of going for Vista, Just to give it a go really.

What I want to know is, Why did you go for the Ultimate Edition over the Home Premium? Did you really need the minor extras or did you just like the name "Ultimate"? Would you have bought it if it were called the "Bill Gates Edition"?

Home premium seems fine, unless you need to remote desktop or join a domain. Or if your happy enough paying the extra £, go for it.

When buying XP I went for Home instead of Pro and occasionally found myself reading an article or something that said 'you can only do this in Pro'. So when it came to fitting out a new PC I went for Ultimate, just in case. The price difference wasn't huge (OEM prices), and at the time Microsoft had promised lots of Ultimate Extras (none of which seem to have materialised).
It's good to be able to tinker with Previous Versions + Bitlocker tho, if only because of the job I do (computer forensics).

There is only one reason that I use Vista Ultimate - Because I'm an official MS Beta Tester and I submitted bugs throughout the Vista Beta they sent me a copy free of charge at the end of it all (Full Retail - very nice of them).

If however I was actually going out to buy Vista now I'd be buying Retail Home Premium.

if you don't use domain joining, get home premium

ultimate is just bloated
