Vista unable to read my floppy disks

I have Vista Ultimate x64.

I have a sony floppy drive, which Vista recognises fine. But when I put in a floppy disk and try to access it, I just get "Please insert a disk into Floppy Disk Drive..." These are new Sony floppy disks. I've put in some old disks, but I get the same error. Anyone have a clue as to why Vista cannot read my floppy disks?

As to the op, you have it enabled in the bios and made sure the cable is the right way around?

Aren't I the idiot. I turned the cable around and it works. Thank you
