Exactly, it's not there. This is one of things that annoys me the most about Vista - anyone think this'll be fixed in SP1?

Mousesearch in Vista sucks so bad it's not funny.

I missed it a lot at first but then i realised you don't need it. The ribbon allows you to click the folder before, or indeed any folder before, which makes it more flexible than the up button

That's good in theory but sometimes the ribbon isn't there. I'll click on the shortcut to my Music folder and the ribbon is greyed out. I have to use the dropdown menu which takes me somewhere I don't want to be and fumble around blindly from there.

Yes, if it weren't I wouldn't be complaining, but sometimes if I create a shortcut to a folder the ribbon isn't there.

It takes you to a folder you were in before. For example, you go to Documents then to Pictures. Use the button to get back to Documents....I think?

Not technically the one you were in before, but the one that contains the folder you're looking at. However in Vista the up button isn't there - no idea why they removed it.

It was removed because you can use the breadcrumb trail or the dropdown menu to get where you need to go.

However I did find the UP Directory button far easier to use.

the breadcrumb bar sucks compared to the old up button/drop down list. i've got used to it but navigating can be a lot slower - especially in save dialogs for some apps which can start off minimized and you have to manually enlarge them each time so you can browse to where you want to save. :(

Here's an example. The ribbon isn't being helpful so I click on the bar and it brings up a really useful drop-down menu!! I mean... what does any of this relate to and how is it helpful to my present search??!

REMOVED IMAGE, PORN URL IN SCREENSHOT. YES I WAS SAD ENOUGH TO CHECK :D - NathanE

LOL OK fixed!
