Vista Upgrade question.

I have Xp installed at the moment and i am thinking about upgrading to vista. If I use the upgrade version will it still retain all the software that i have installed at present or will it format the system and give me a fresh install?

If you run the install from within XP then it will retain all of your programmes and settings. There is a way to do a clean install but it is slightly more complicated and you will have to backup all of your data first

The reason i am asking is that i have not long since done a fresh install of xp and i dont fancy having to go through the hassle of doing it all again

Make sure you uninstall anti-virus and firewall softwares before doing the upgrade.

I decided that, for the time being, i should install onto a spare HD and leave my working Xp in a safe place.....
