As the the title...
What exactly is this programme and does it really mean or show anything?
Can you take anything from your rating.
Thanks

It's out of a total of 6 in each category and the overall index is determined by the lowest score. believe that Microsoft wanted developers to use it on software to make it easier for consumers to determine if the software would work on their computers.

Cheers,

Blue.

LOL e-penis aside for the moment, my main interest is to see whether my new rig is running as expected...I need something that will tell me who well its benching against expected results.

The Vista index is not of any real use because as has already been said, it uses the lowest factor for the result.

Have a look in the cpu section for info on benchmarking.
Personally If my system does what I want it to, then it is fine.

If you enjoy "playing" 3DMark and the like then it is yet again something else to try and "win".
Otherwise to the average user it means nothing and to the novice uer it's designed to give them an idea of if an application/game will run well.
If their system rates at 5 and the latest Microsoft game is rated at say 4 then they know the game should run without a problem etc.

ahh cool very helpful...makes sense to me. I'll continue to use everest to bench it as its always been good in the past. Anyone use sisoft sandra much anymore?
