Vista Users folder question.

I have puzzled over this for some time - OS Vista - when I click on Users I have the following folders i.e. my name wife's name Public and again Users. If I click on my name I have the usual turquoise folders plus a program folder. The wife's are just the same though she doesn't have the programme folder. If I click on the Users folder within the Users folder there are then another two folders - again my name which has the same folders as the first my name folder but instead of the turquoise this time they are the usual yellow folders plus a couple of saved picture projects. I also have a Public folder again which does have some different folders in there to the first Public Folder. What on earth is going on and is this quite normal? :confused:
 
Nope, that is quit strange.

The folder structure (by default) should be:
C:\Users\Faustus\
C:\Users\Faustus\Music
C:\Users\Faustus\Pictures
C:\Users\Faustus\Contacts
C:\Users\Faustus\Desktop
etc...

The same goes for your wife's folder structure, there should be another Users folder under the Users folder.

Right click, Properties, Location on 'Documents', 'Pictures' and 'Music' on the start menu and make sure they're not pointing to C:\Users\Users for some reason.

No – my structure is Users/Faustus/Public/Mrs Faustus/Users

Open Faustus to reveal contacts, desktop, documents, downloads, favourites, links, music, pictures, saved games, searches, videos and yellow folder Program files.

Mrs Faustus the same minus yellow program folder

Public is usual stuff

Users again is Faustus with all the same as first Faustus but folders yellow instead of turquoise plus a couple of saved picture projects

Public is similar plus some iTunes folders.

Right clicking on start circle and properties is just Open all Users and Explore all Users and that just reveals Program data location with Progs default progs Windows Update etc.
 
I have looked at my two other PC's - all Vista and they too are the same. I can only assume it must be the way Vista creates the file structures. The only other explanation I could give is that all three PC's have been restored at some point using Acronis image recovery. Whether there is a duplication taking place at that point I'm not sure - I can see though that the folders were created on different dates and I'm sure that in one case at least that I did restore the entire C: drive on that day. There doesn't appear to be any speed or error issues though.
