I know its been out for a while now, but what do people this is the best version of Vista? I've got Ultimate on my home PC and Home Premium on the laptop and cant really notice much difference....to be honest Home Premium seems to do just as good a job.

What does everyone else think?

I've got Vista on my PC, and to be honest...I dont use half the stuff that it installs. Just the usual apps, Media Player, IE, etc. The rest I ignore or install myself.

Do you think running Home Premium would be any quicker than Ultimate? The laptops not as good a spec as my PC yet seems to boot up just as quick.

On another note, I might be setting up a Wireless network in the future and sharing a printer, can I do all that on Home Premium?

I doubt there would be any speed difference assuming they were both 32-bit or both 64-bit. And yes, Home premium can do all of that. It cannot join a Domain but workgroups are fine.

For home users, Home Premium is fine. The extra features provided by Ultimate are only really worth it if you want to use the PC in a business environment. Remote desktop is one possible exception but there are free alternatives if you need them.

Does Home Premium not come with Remote Desktop then?

I believe it comes with the client only. I don't have a copy of Home Premium to check (mine are Business and Ultimate).

yup^

basically its....

basic. no remote desktop, no media centre
home premium. no remote desktop, has media centre
business. has remote desktop, no media centre
ultimate. has remote desktop, has media centre, has tons of other bloated crap that's useless
