I know this is a common problem with vista, and have tried all the guides available and the supposed "Hotfix".

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933468

Most of the guides i found on the web were all based around that KB above. This however did not resolve the issue for me.

When on a vista machine, and connecting through a VPN, i can ping the server but cannot access the shares, i have tried the workaround in the above KB, also tried to install the hotfix, but when i try i simply get "This application is not available for this system". I have checked to make sure i have downloaded the correct file yet it still says that.

This is causing a huge problem now as we are trying to use an application in work which depends on being able to access network shares over a VPN connection, resulting in anyone using vista having major issues.

Just for references, SP1 has been installed on vista machine, have also uninstalled SP1, tested, didnt work, reinstall it, still didnt work.

Any help appriciated.

Thanks

Are the Vista machines members of the domain?

Firewalls on? Which VPN client (is it Cisco and if so have you turned Cisco's firewall off as that was a nightmare for me).

A little bit more info would help... :D

windows firewall off, the client just vpn's into a server running windows server 2003, the laptop is connecting to the domain via the vpn, when disconnected it's not part of any other domain.
