Vista : Where's search!

Hi,

I don't seem to have seach on my "start" menu, how do I add it?

Ah I see, probably some sort of hack or reg tweak, what’s the need to have it on the start menu? Isn’t it easier just to write in the search box?

Iirc SP1 removes search from the start menu doesn't it? I remember reading something about that.

That comes up when you type what you want to search for in the start menu and press enter.

It was removed in SP1 for some reason. It can be accessed through Windows Key + F

rightclick toolbar and select "properties"

click "start menu" tab the select "customise" next to your chosen start menu style.

You can activate search in the options that come up.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1 and the search is still where it has always been..?

Definitely, the Win2k style UI for advanced search seems a lot easier to use I find - tell it where you want to look, and then search on a filename and/or text string. Additional filters as appopriate but usually not required due to it's speed.

Where ever I am in Windows Explorer I just hit F3. Easier that way as I prefer the classic start menu.

All i do is left click the taskbar and then press F3, this brings up search no matter what you're running.
